Who wants to live the collegiate lifestyle over again for a weekend?

We do...

No, we did not have any alcohol over the weekend (though Kyle does look like it here)...
No, seriously though...who wouldn't want to re-live like a college student for a weekend?
staying up to whenever you feel like it,
getting up whenever you feel like it,
doing whatever you feel like...
& in mine & Thew's case, not have to worry to much about spending $ b/c you worked your tail off over the summer so you'd have enough $ saved up so you could do stuff on the weekends
I mean, in our life now, we totally can do all the above on pretty much any given weekend...we don't have kids yet, so there's no pre-set schedule b/c of that; we don't have to work on the weekends; we earn enough $ now to be able to afford doing a lot of cool things on the weekend & summer; LIFE IS GOOD :)
Plus, we're married now, which in college we desperately wanted to be. B/c when you know (just months into your relationship) that you want to spend the rest of your life with that person you're with, what holds you back from actually getting married? A degree, that's what & when you both still have 2 entire years left of school, it's challenging to wait that long to get married. But we were patient, grew to love each other more, & waited for God's timing.
That timing to make things official came in the Spring of our Senior Year on a extra rainy Easter Monday when I was asked the best question ever...2nd best day of our life. Followed a little over 4 months later by the best day of our life, when things really became official & we slipped those now tarnished & scratched rings on our fingers for the 1st time :)
Thew & I absolutely LOVE our life now, don't get me wrong. This is exactly where I wanted to be @ 26...
married to the man of my dreams,
mom to a beautiful & sweet black lab puppy (the exact color & breed I've always wanted),
friends & family to the best people in the world,
homeowner of a house we've helped make our own with plenty of sweat equity,
working a job I absolutely love with awesome people & great students.
The only thing missing is making our family at least triple in size :) And I should rephrase that...I don't feel like a part of us is missing, I just know that our family will be a little more complete when 3-5 little Fohner's are running around this pad. We both believe that it is whole now, but we both know that God has made it clear that we are supposed to have children someday. It's in our life verse that Thew & I picked out for our wedding day (Malachi 2:15...look it up, it's a good one :)
So, just like when we were in college, we will wait for His timing on that one ;) We're both actively seeking an answer for when that time is, but we're also resting in the fact that it'll happen when it happens & for now we're just going to enjoy being a family of two. Everyone that we know who already has kids has said don't rush it & we definitely don't want to do that. We've only know each other for 6 years (on this Halloween night, to be exact...on which I have a very special surprise date planned to commemorate that special night), have only dated for 5 & 1/2, and only been married for 3...so we both feel it's a little too soon for additions to the family now. Now this is made a little hard by the fact that we are the only couple out of all of our friends who has been married for as long as we have & aren't already pregnant or been pregnant (yes, all of our friends started super young). But for now, we're just waiting on the go ahead from God on getting that phase of our life started. What will be cool about that is that if something crazy doesn't happen between then & now, we will be the only ones of our friends who actually has a planned pregnancy for their 1st child. We are totally aware that God can break through anything He wants to have a couple get pregnant (as evidenced by our friends), but we both teach Health & Family Life to middle schoolers, so we pretty much know how to prevent a surprise from happening in pretty effective ways. Not that we wouldn't welcome a surprise...that would completely make it clear that it was God planning that baby & not us, but anyone who knows me, knows this girl is a planner. Which is also why I don't do well when my boat is rocked by change...but that's another blog post for another day...
So I digress back to this weekend...wow, that was quite a tangent..

on the right is Ash's little sister, Danielle, next to her roommate Bridget...
Ash & I slept over @ their apartment on campus on Friday while the husbands camped out in our friends, Ed & Jenette's, backyard...yes, camped out. Yes, Ed & Jenette have a guest bedroom & plenty of room to sleepover there...no, the husbands were not interested (weirdo's). It's been a dream of their's for a few months now to set up a tent late at night in their backyard & camp out for the night to surprise them in the morning. What would you do if you saw a tent in your backyard in the morning? Fall over laughing (if you're Jenette) & just stutter and stare in wonderment (if you're Ed). Not too sure what I would've done...probably walk outside with our medal baseball bat we keep under the bed & beat the tent down...

Ash & I...

getting ready for the beach on Saturday morning...

these two make me wish I had a little sister real bad...I have 3 awesome older ones & 2 sweet little bro's, but no little sis...

the victims themselves @ our favorite restaurant in Salisbury, Salsarita's...

here's what we rounded the dunes to find. It was pretty neat to see the tide pools. I've never seen OC like this before. I guess those string of hurricanes have caused the sand to majorly shift...

cool panoramic shot of Ash & Danielle checking out the scene...there weren't very many people there even though it was Sunfest...

Thew & Kyle sprinting to the waves to "body board" or as normal people call it, boogie board...

the Brunner (current & former) Sisters having fun...

Kyle skim boarding from one end of the tide pool to the ocean...

Ash skimming almost to the waves...

Thew on the top left & Sammy Seagull on the bottom right...

you NEEDED a wetsuit to even get in past your calves yesterday...man, is summer really over?

again, Kyle, what's with the weird faces?
I though a pic like this was appropriate since 6 of the 7 of us are/were SU Seagulls :)
very windy day...that's the thing about going to school @ SU. It would be showing signs of a PERFECT beach day in Salsibury, so instead of heading to the local docks or pool to sunbathe, naturally, you'd hop in the car for the 30 min. drive to OC. Only to get there & find it was cloudy & windy. We veteran beachcombers came prepared in jeans & sweatshirts just in case...

the look of 139th...

we always come down to Fenwick Island to enjoy the waves here b/c before my parents divorced, we owned a condo on 139th (2 streets away from the state line where Fenwick begins)...
this place brings back a lot of awesome memories...
hard to see the street sign in the lower left of the shot, even with the awesome editing touches of my Mac, but then again....I am a very ametaur photographer...

who doesn't like driving back home to this...

oh, SU & OC...till we meet again, you are always in my heart!
