Throwback Thursday

Wow, it's been a week since I updated...such is life right now. Busy, busy...I'll catch you up on it later when life calms down. For now, since it's Thursday, it's Throwback time...
One of our favorite videos of our "little girl" swimming at my grandparent's property in VA. This was filmed earlier this year about 2 weeks after Aslan's 2nd birthday. She LOVES to swim & play fetch in the water (forget about it on land, though...this girl takes after her mommy). We were celebrating Easter with my mom's side of the family. You can hear my little cousins playing the background & my aunt asking who wants pie...mmm. This girl can't wait to go back her grandparent's for her grandmommmy's cooking in a few short weeks for Thanksgiving :)

Speaking of my grandparents, Thew & I spend last Thursday through Sunday at their place & it was AWESOME.  Again, I'll catch you up on it later.

Catch ya on the flip side  :)

Happy cough*sniff*cough*ND Birthday, Mom!

Just like yesterday, today is a very special birthday for someone...

today, my mommy turned cough*sniff*cough years old...
in the Bateman Family, we like to refer to ages as the decade bracket you will be in next "minus" however many years you have left until you reach that next decade bracket...for example, Thew will be turning "30 minus 1" one month from tomorrow...

we like to give each other a hard time like that...

Mom has 7 b-days left in her current decade bracket...though I won't reveal which one...nor will I reveal her actual age...though she COMPLETELY doesn't look like she should even be in that decade bracket (we've got awesome anti-aging genes in my family)...

so does my littlest bro...

Scotty looks EXACTLY like my Dad did at his age, but Mom's got dibs on Patch & I...

look at how fine she is!

how many hot moms who have 3 kids in their 20's look as good as her?

she's got a GREAT smile & laugh...

& is totally fun to go on vaca's with...

her little sis (on the right) studied in Italy during my senior year of college & guess who treated me to an early college graduation present of a week in Italy visiting my fav Aunt?

Mom, Aunt Martha, & I had a BLAST & to this day reminisce about all our adventures across the country together whenever we all hang out...

she's got awesome friends, too...

loves to have a great time...

& as of 65 days from now, will be marrying a man who loves and absolutely ADORES her...

I LOVE YOU, MOM...

& hope Todd spoils you rotten today!

Welcome to a Quarter Century, Jax!

It's this girl's b-day today!  Wooo-whooo!

I KNOW she's excited today...

SUPER excited...

similar to this post celebrating Di's 25th B-Day just over 1 month ago, I unfortunately have NO digital pics of all of our fun times in high school & college together in, so I'm posting up some pics that describe what this girl means to me that I have from our wedding  :)

this is how you often see Jacklyn Dyan Kammerer, (as I write this, I'm picturing our friend J Mallare saying, "Kammerererer" as he refers to her)...I affectionately refer to her, Jax...

her screen name (without giving it away) implies that she will be happy forever...

and she truly is...

Jax is one of those rare people in life that you ALWAYS look forward to seeing because she is just one of those people who soaks up life and all it has to offer...

I think she's the epitome of John 10:10...she lives the life that God has called her to..."life to the full"

currently, she's living out life's adventures in Denver...

this girl KNOWS how to have a good time...

and make you have a good time with her...

makes you laugh...

REALLY laugh...

even helps your fam laugh with her...

always helps make you feel & look good...

has the trusty car that's been around for always...

that Jeep has seen some great times...

here's to one of my favorite people...

a girl that I'm honored to call my friend...

and a girl I miss dearly since she's now thousand of miles away...

LOVE YOU, Jax!  I hope your Denver friends are spoiling you rotten today!

Sunday Evening Boredom w/ the Fohner's & PhotoBooth

So if you have a Mac, you know that there's a really fun function called "Photo Booth" that you can take super fun pics with...

here's some fun pics back from my b-day as well as from last night...

the "Normal" mode...

with some not so normal poses...

"Black and White", duh...

"Thermal Camera" (from out bedside table lamps)...

"X-Ray"...weird...

"Pop Art"...

"Bulge"...don't really know what was going on here...

Thew cheated with some of these...once you choose your option of which type of photo you want, it counts down from 3 & guess who would change his face at the last second...

"Squeeze"...

"Mirror"...

"Light Tunnel"...

"Color Dots"...these next ones are weird...

you have to move out of the frame of the pic for a bit & then you can move back in to take it...we haven't quite figured out the background ones yet...

"Earthrise"...

"Eiffel Tower"...stabbed through head of Thew...

with his headphones on...

"Fish"...underwater...

with his headphones on...

highly recommend goofing off with it when you get a chance...oh, & as for the switch from PC to Mac, I'm SOOO glad I switched.  It was a long debate with me (if you know me well, you know that I take FOREVER to make decisions) so Thew had to make this decision for me.  He got tired of hearing me go back and forth about it so he bought a Dell for himself & a Mac for me.  Awesome surprise this past spring  :)  I had had my Dell laptop since the summer before I went off to college @ U. of Richmond (over 7 years ago) so I was needing a new one.  My Dell needed some new memory, but was pretty much in working order...until the bolts that hold up the screen on it's own fell out.  All well, it still works (as long as it's propped up against something) & I use it every once in a while to back up some files & such.

But for the debate about which is better...Mac's TOTALLY win.  It's not even a contest!  Not that I've ever had a virus, but these things don't even get them!  It's much more user friendly, too...awesome for editing pics & other functions.  It just takes a while to experiment with taking the time to learn how to use it, but Mac has great free tutorials on their website to teach you.

So there's my plug for the day...

pics from this past weekend & my mom's Bridal Shower soon  :)

Zoo So Crazy!

We Fohner's totally took advantage of our day off today...
and headed to the National Zoo in D.C...

the Reptile House...not my favorite animals, but got some cool pics...

love these colors...

I definitely didn't feel like this guy after all the walking we did...

Thew & I kinda wished we would've jacked a pedometer from our schools for the day just to see how many miles we got...

ok, I like snakes...but not these guys, just thought it was weird that they were "snuggling"...

wish I could've hopped on the back of this guy...he was HUGE (that's a family joke, there)...

this guy literally posed like this for dozens of seconds at a time...

the cousins of this guy used to hide in the shallow waters of our backyard river when I was growing up...I always wanted to wade out just to feel the cool water & mud between my toes when it was low tide, but knowing that something like this liked to nap in the mud & had jaws strong enough to bite through my toes like they were carrots stopped me...

I used to have a consistent nightmare when I was younger that my little bro's & I would run down the hill of our backyard to the water & jump off our pier only to open my eyes under water to see the cousins of this guy swimming around...I would always awake in a cold sweat not wanting to go swimming in the Magothy anymore...duh...

I still get the hebby-jebbies on the occasional fall from the wakeboard, kneeboard, or tube...

fav pic of an animal for the day...

this guy was sooo tiny...

LIONS...

TIGERS...

no bears...the pandas were sleeping by the time we made our way over to the Asia section of the zoo...

Thew got some AWESOME pics of the day that he's gonna load up on his Flickr site soon...

fav pic of a pic...if only they didn't eat their own poop (guess who recorded a video of that to send to Ed & Kyle...you're welcome, Jeanette & Ash, for me not doing the same to you)...

actually as I write this...that same person just sent me the same video...wow, I guess getting ready to enter into your last year of your 20's is making someone resort back to their middle school days...

if you haven't been to the Nat Zoo, the overhead ropes go between indoor & outdoor areas where the monkeys can play...

wish I would've had enough memory on my camera to post a video what this guy & his friend were doing...hiding underneath cardboard that they would strategically place underneath a dripping fountain...hilarious!  They didn't want to get wet so every time the cardboard would get soppy they would punch it & switch positions...I could've watched it all afternoon!

I felt like this guy in the middle of the pic yesterday...took a sick day & everything...

I had to skip out on teaching Youth Group last night, but I know those prayers that were lifted up for me did wonders...woke up feeling bad again today, but wanted to brave the zoo anyway...feeling a ton better now...

these guys looked like they HATED life...

caught this guy yawning...

cuteness...

wish I had these guys around me all the time to make me laugh...there's just something about small rodents...

that cracks me up...if I had to write a caption for this one, I don't even know what it would be, but this guy made me want to tune into "Meerkat Manor"...he just plopped down & started staring at his stomach...

we had a blast...& for only $15!

entering the park is free, & parking costs don't exceed $20...even for the whole day...

until next time...here's the Fohner Fam signing off  :)
